Tutor for Reader Programme

St Augustine’s College of Theology is seeking to appoint a Tutor for their Reader programme. This is a 0.2 position (8 hours per week), together with three Saturdays and one weekend each year. The Tutor for Readers will administer the Reader pathway, working in collaboration with the college’s teaching and administrative staff. Reader education serves candidates sponsored by the Southwark, Canterbury, and Chichester dioceses and the tutor will be responsible for negotiating with these dioceses in maintaining, reviewing and developing this ministerial pathway. The ability to teach on the programme is an advantage but not essential. Experience of Reader ministry is not required but is desirable.

Serving primarily the dioceses of Canterbury, Chichester, Rochester, and Southwark, St Augustine’s currently has 207 students in training for lay and ordained ministries at two centres (Southwark and West Malling).

Salary and conditions of service will be in accordance with the Church of England’s Lichfield scale.
