Under ‘Etcetera’ on the main menu above, you’ll find a series of reflections for the Sundays of Advent. Each week, during this first season of the year, one of the St. Augustine’s staff shall post a meditation on the Old Testament lesson for the day. We’ve chosen the Old Testament reading, not only because this is generally the reading least preached on, but also because Advent encourages us to reflect on the entire ‘narrative arc’ of God’s ways and works, from his promises to Israel, through the birth of Jesus, to fulfilment in the “new heaven and new earth.”
